I have done extensive research on formatting the most suitable contract. I do this, not to benefit myself or the purchaser, but for the wellbeing and protection of your new puppy. I proudly extend a one-year health guarantee on all of my puppies!
TERMS OF
1.) Full payment shall be received a minimum of one week prior to puppy’s departure. Puppy will not be released until all monies are secured. Deposits are $100 - $500 (depending on the price of your puppy) and are non-refundable, unless death of your puppy occurs, while in my care.
2.) Puppy must be examined by a licensed practicing veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving him. Notification of veterinarian’s visit must be made available to seller or my one-year health guarantee is VOID. If for some unfortunate reason, puppy is found to have any genetic defects, (that is, any defects not already agreed upon previously between seller and purchaser) puppy shall be returned to seller (only). Settlement, in the form of refund of puppy price, less shipping, or another puppy (same sex & price) from next available litter, will be issued to purchaser once seller has received written diagnosis from veterinarian and puppy has been safely returned to seller. Seller is not responsible for any veterinarian charges incurred during this time. A second opinion from an alternate licensed practicing veterinarian may be required at the discretion of the seller.
3.) Health guarantee from any genetic defects is good for one (1) year and (72 hours) against infectious diseases and/or environmental injuries. Genetic defects are defined as physical problems impacting the animal’s well-being and not the result of other factors, such as environmental injury and/or nutrition. Infectious diseases are diseases that the puppy has contracted from the new owner's home/environment or from other animals that he has been exposed to after leaving PJ's Dachshunds. I guarantee your puppy has been examined by a licensed practicing veterinarian before he leaves my facility. I guarantee that your new puppy is up-to-date on his vaccinations and worming preventative and has been given a 14-day dose of Albon (an oral antibiotic for the prevention of Coccidia (a protozoan that can lead to coccidiosis, which can be a deadly intestinal infection). I will not sell a puppy that has a (+) fecal test for Coccidia until treatment is complete and he has tested (-) by my veterinarian.
4.) If your puppy has an inguinal hernia, an over- or under-bite, knuckling over the chest, heart murmur, or any other defect of this nature, the puppy will be sold as “pet quality.” No AKC registration papers will be given and the puppy must be spayed or neutered. I enforce this because I strongly believe that a puppy with any of these problems should not be bred, since these problems can be passed on.
5.) Purchaser agrees to feed the recommended puppy food, Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul, for the well being of the puppy for at least 4 months. When changing foods, please do so slowly and remember to mix original and new food half and half for at least 2 weeks. This prevents stomach upset and helps your puppy to become better adjusted to his new food. Each puppy will go to his new home with a sample of this food. I have tried many different foods over the years and have been mostly satisfied with this brand. I am proud to recommend this brand of food to the new owners. To find a dealer near you, visit their website @ http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com.
6.) Please refrain from allowing your veterinarian to give your puppy a Lepto vaccination before he is 16 weeks of age. Lepto is included in many of the combination vaccines, but can be avoided, if requested. If vaccination with Lepto is given, and puppy gets sick and dies, the one year health guarantee is VOID. I never give vaccinations containing Lepto to any of my puppies or adults, because of my knowledge of the potential life-threatening allergic reactions that may occur!
7.) Seller makes no guarantees to housebreaking your new puppy. Please give your new puppy the time he needs for housetraining. Remember, he is just a baby and this will take some time. He will need much love and attention. Try to refrain from scolding him when accidents do occur, but praise him when he potties in the appropriate places.
8.) Seller makes no guarantees to the size your puppy will be, once fully grown. I can only give the average weights of both parents and assume that the puppy will weigh somewhere in that range.
9.) Finally, shall purchaser ever decide that his puppy needs a new home, for whatever reason; he shall only be returned to PJ's Dachshunds. My puppies have NO place in a shelter or pound facility. Remember, each puppy will always have a welcomed place at their FIRST home!
Thank you,
